Eric Clapton Lines up Six US Concerts in September, Opening in Detroit Before Crossroads Guitar Festival in Austin Closes Out His Short Run
DETROIT, MI — Eric Clapton is set for a brief return to the US this September with six concerts spread across Detroit, Cincinnati, Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Kansas City.
The run begins Sept. 6 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit and ends Sept. 17 in Kansas City, before he heads to Austin later that month for his Crossroads Guitar Festival.
Detroit starts a route through cities with deep Clapton history
The tour opens in a city Clapton has played for decades. His Detroit story reaches back nearly 60 years to Cream’s three-night stand at the Grande Ballroom in October 1967.
He has kept returning ever since, and the Sept. 6 show will be his first in Detroit since 2022.
Each stop adds a milestone for a city that has seen him before
Several of the dates mark notable returns. Cincinnati will be his 12th appearance there and his first in 16 years, while Chicago will be his 12th United Center show and his first in four years.
Milwaukee, St. Paul and Kansas City also carry their own history, from Summerfest and the Bradley Center to earlier arena dates and even a 1975 nod to “Kansas City.”
A familiar band and a festival finale round out the month
Clapton is traveling with longtime collaborators Nathan East, Doyle Bramhall II, Chris Stainton, Tim Carmon, Sonny Emory, Sharon White and Katie Kissoon, with Jimmie Vaughan opening all six concerts.
Fans can expect a mix of electric and acoustic material drawn from Clapton’s catalog, along with the blues that have remained central to his live shows. Tickets are available through EricClapton.com.
