Florida Teen Arrested After Throwing Rock Through Window of ICE Vehicle During Immigration Operation

PORT ST. LUCIE, FLORIDA — A 19-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly throwing a large rock through the window of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) vehicle during a federal operation in Port St. Lucie, police confirmed Friday.

According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, Pasqual Velasquez Martin is accused of attacking the vehicle shortly after ICE agents detained his father outside a Wawa convenience store earlier this week.

Incident Unfolded During ICE Arrest Operation

Authorities said federal agents were conducting an immigration enforcement operation in the area when Martin allegedly picked up a large rock and hurled it at one of the passing ICE vehicles, shattering the rear window.

“If you commit a crime in the city of Port St. Lucie, we’re going to enforce the law, and that’s all there is to it,” said Port St. Lucie Police Chief Leo Niemczyk.

The incident occurred as agents were transporting individuals in custody, making the act especially dangerous, officials said.

Suspect Quickly Captured by Federal Agents

After throwing the rock, Martin fled the scene, but officers said he didn’t get far. Multiple ICE agents and local police units were already nearby and apprehended him within minutes.

Police later confirmed that Martin has been charged with throwing a deadly missile into an occupied vehicle, a second-degree felony under Florida law.

No federal agents were injured during the incident, though the ICE vehicle sustained significant damage.

Community Cooperation Credited in Arrest

Officials also thanked community witnesses who assisted investigators by identifying Martin as the suspect responsible for the damage.

“This was a quick resolution thanks to the public and interagency teamwork,” Chief Niemczyk said, adding that the case highlights the dangers law enforcement officers face during federal operations in public areas.

As Martin awaits a court appearance in St. Lucie County, ICE officials say the investigation remains ongoing, including potential federal charges related to interference with law enforcement duties. For continued updates on crime and law enforcement news nationwide, visit ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
