Florida Woman Accused of Throwing Knife at Boyfriend’s Head After Seeing $5 Mobile Payment to Another Woman, Deputies Say
MARATHON, FLORIDA — A Florida woman is behind bars after deputies say she threw a knife at her boyfriend’s head during a heated argument sparked by a $5 mobile payment he sent to another woman. Investigators say the confrontation quickly escalated into violence inside the couple’s home.
Deputies Say a $5 Payment Triggered Violence Inside the Couple’s Home
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Danielle Banks was scrolling through her boyfriend’s phone when she noticed a $5 transfer made to a female friend. Deputies say Banks immediately became upset and confronted him about it.
What began as an argument turned physical.
Authorities say Banks called her boyfriend derogatory names, then punched him multiple times in the mouth while grabbing his shirt. Deputies later noted the shirt was torn and stained with blood.
The situation escalated even further when Banks allegedly walked into the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and threw it overhand at her boyfriend’s head, striking him in the face and leaving a visible cut.
Suspect Allegedly Fled in Her Car Before Trying to Hide from Deputies
After the knife attack, deputies say Banks ran out of the home and drove away.
Her boyfriend called 911, reporting that she “stabbed him in the face” before fleeing.
A nearby Border Patrol agent spotted Banks’ vehicle and followed her to an apartment complex only a few blocks from the home.
When deputies arrived, they saw Banks ducking down inside her car, appearing to hide.
She was detained moments later.
During questioning, Banks denied throwing a knife. She claimed she only “threw a plate into the sink” and suggested that a shard from the plate must have cut her boyfriend — a statement deputies found inconsistent with the injury.
Banks soon stopped answering questions and invoked her right to remain silent.
Boyfriend Declined to Provide a Statement but Left the Home with His Belongings
Deputies say the victim refused to give a written statement and did not want them entering the home to retrieve the knife because it was “not his property.”
First responders treated him at the scene, and he later contacted his brother, packed his belongings, and left the residence.
Authorities charged Banks with:
- Aggravated battery
- Resisting arrest without violence
She was booked into the Monroe County Jail on $75,000 bond, and her arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 21.
