Fortnite and Rocket League Launch New Music Events Featuring Partynextdoor and Deadmau5

VIRTUAL WORLD — Gaming and music continue to collide in new ways as Epic Games rolls out two major in-game events starring Partynextdoor and Deadmau5, bringing immersive music experiences to Fortnite and Rocket League this week.
Partynextdoor Takes Over Fortnite With Sony-Backed Immersive Island
The Canadian R&B artist Partynextdoor is launching a cinematic concert journey inside Fortnite’s Creative Mode, thanks to a collaboration with Sony Music’s Immersive Music Studios.
Fans will begin their journey at Toronto’s CN Tower, board a private jet, and travel to a concert on South Beach, ending with an afterparty in Miami. The virtual world includes:
- Scavenger hunts
- Parkour mini-games
- Quest-driven exploration
- A full avatar-based concert performance
As part of the launch, his single “Break From Toronto” will be added as a Jam Track in Fortnite — allowing players to remix it inside the game’s music creation tools.
Deadmau5 Headlines Rocket League’s 10-Year Anniversary
Meanwhile, Rocket League, the hit soccer-meets-racing game, is celebrating its 10th anniversary by bringing in Deadmau5 as its headlining act. The artist — long known for his interest in gaming and the metaverse — will anchor the celebration with music and custom content.
Starting August 5, players can access:
- In-game Deadmau5 anthems (sold for 300 credits each or 900 credits as a bundle)
- A McLaren 570S + Deadmau5 Bundle for 2,500 credits (valued around $21)
- Custom decals, boosts, and challenges themed to both the artist and Rocket League’s milestone
These digital items and soundtracks are part of Rocket League’s growing catalogue of premium virtual collectibles, now a major draw for music and gaming crossover audiences.
Gaming + Music = The New Normal
With labels and artists increasingly prioritizing virtual stages, the Fortnite and Rocket League events signal a continued evolution of how music is discovered and consumed — particularly by younger fans.
Both Partynextdoor’s and Deadmau5’s events offer experiential, narrative-driven performances that go beyond the traditional concert format. As the metaverse era evolves, these types of activations are becoming a powerful tool for music marketing and fan engagement.
