Hampton Police Seek Suspect After Man Shot Point-Blank at His Door

HAMPTON, VIRGINIA — Police are asking for the public’s help after a man was shot at point-blank range when he answered his door early Sunday morning in Hampton.

The Hampton Police Division said the incident happened around 2:03 a.m. on September 14 in the 600 block of Powhatan Parkway. Officers arrived to find an adult male victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Attack at the Doorstep

Investigators said the suspect went directly to the victim’s home, knocked on the door, and opened fire as soon as the victim answered. The gunman then fled the scene in a vehicle.

Emergency crews from Hampton Fire and Rescue treated the man on scene before transporting him to a local hospital for further care.

Investigation Ongoing

Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation.
