Indiana Man Accused of Beating Woman With Gun and Shooting Her in Forehead Over Unpaid Debt, Police Say

FORT WAYNE, INDIANA — A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly pistol-whipping and shooting a woman in the forehead during a violent argument over money, according to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.

Antres Holliness-Ransom, 28, was taken into custody Thursday in connection with the death of Jasmine Haywood, whose body was found just before midnight on October 17 inside an apartment on the 2900 block of Schele Avenue in Fort Wayne.

Investigators said Haywood had suffered a gunshot wound to the forehead and severe facial trauma when police arrived.

Scene Revealed Signs of a Brutal Attack

Officers discovered a blood-covered Glock handgun between Haywood’s feet, a shell casing hidden in a dresser drawer, and a semi-automatic rifle with a destroyed serial number under the bed.

Inside one dresser drawer, police found blood and tissue believed to have come from the victim’s face, according to court documents obtained by WPTA.

Authorities noted that Haywood’s cellphone — seen in surveillance footage earlier that day — was missing from the scene, prompting detectives to suspect foul play.

Chilling Text Message Leads Detectives to Suspect

The investigation took a shocking turn when a witness sent a text message to a detective, revealing details about what happened before Haywood’s death.

“You can’t open a door if someone is holding a gun to your head telling you to get rid of them or he gonna shoot me,” the text read. “Then after he held us in there, his girl is found dead ‘suicide.’ … I will die for sure if I talk this time.”

The witness claimed they were held hostage inside the apartment by two men, one of whom — later identified as Holliness-Ransom — allegedly beat Haywood with a gun and shot her because she owed him money.

An autopsy confirmed Haywood’s cause of death was a gunshot wound to the forehead, ruling the case a homicide.

Surveillance and Phone Data Link Suspect to Crime Scene

Detectives reviewed surveillance video showing a vehicle registered to Holliness-Ransom at the apartment complex around the time of the killing. Investigators also traced Haywood’s missing phone to a location tied to the suspect.

When questioned, the witness confirmed the shooter’s identity, replying “uh-huh” when asked if his name was Antres, according to the court affidavit.

Holliness-Ransom was arrested and booked into the Allen County Confinement Facility without bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.

The Allen County Prosecutor’s Office said the case highlights the dangers of drug-related and financial disputes escalating into violence. For continued updates on Midwest crime and court proceedings, visit ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
