Kentucky Man Arrested After Fleeing Traffic Stop in Early-Morning Incident, Police Say
LONDON, KY — A 29-year-old man was arrested early Saturday after allegedly fleeing from police during an attempted traffic stop, according to the London Police Department. The incident unfolded just after 5:15 a.m., when an officer spotted a speeding vehicle on a London roadway.
Driver Allegedly Refused to Stop for Police
Police say the officer attempted to pull over a 2014 silver Ford Fusion, but the driver — identified as Julio Santiz — kept going, continuing for several miles before finally stopping on Village Wood Court.
During the pursuit, Santiz reportedly drove erratically, crossing the solid white line several times and failing to stay in his lane. Authorities noted that the behavior created a dangerous situation for both the suspect and other motorists on the road at the time.
Suspect Arrested and Taken Into Custody
According to officials, Santiz was taken into custody without incident once he eventually pulled over. He faces multiple charges related to fleeing police and traffic violations. After his arrest, he was transported to the Laurel County Detention Center.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, and police have not released additional details regarding any potential contributing factors, such as impairment.
