Kentucky Man Arrested After High-Speed Motorcycle Chase Through Nelson and Marion Counties, Deputies Say

NELSON COUNTY, KENTUCKY — A high-speed motorcycle chase that crossed county lines Saturday night ended with the arrest of a man carrying a large amount of methamphetamine, according to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies identified the suspect as Frank Livers, who now faces multiple felony charges after leading officers on a six-mile pursuit from Nelson County into neighboring Marion County.

Chase Begins During Speed Enforcement Operation

The incident began when Sgt. Steven Quire was conducting speed enforcement along J.T. Riggs Road. Around that time, Quire spotted a motorcycle traveling at an excessive speed.

When he attempted a traffic stop, the rider accelerated instead — initiating a dangerous chase through winding rural roads and into Marion County. Deputies reported that Livers ignored emergency lights and sirens throughout the pursuit.

Takedown and Arrest

The chase ended when Livers pulled into a residential driveway, where deputies say he reached toward his waistband.

Fearing he may have been reaching for a weapon, Sgt. Quire deployed his Taser, successfully subduing the suspect before taking him into custody without further incident.

A subsequent search revealed 62 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a digital scale, items authorities say are consistent with drug trafficking.

Multiple Charges Filed

According to the sheriff’s office, Livers faces a long list of charges, including:

  • Fleeing or Evading Police (1st Degree)
  • Wanton Endangerment of a Police Officer
  • Trafficking in Methamphetamine
  • Operating on a Suspended License

Deputies said Livers posed a serious risk to both law enforcement and other motorists during the pursuit.

“The decision to flee created a dangerous situation for everyone involved,” an official statement from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office read. “We’re thankful no deputies or bystanders were hurt.”

Drugs, Speed, and Small-Town Enforcement

Rural stretches of Nelson and Marion Counties have seen a rise in drug-related arrests and reckless driving incidents, particularly involving motorcycles and high-speed pursuits.

The sheriff’s office said they will continue to conduct speed enforcement and narcotics patrols across county lines in an effort to curb this trend.

“Our deputies will not tolerate dangerous driving or drug trafficking on our roads,” the department emphasized in its post on Facebook, which included photos of the recovered drugs and the seized motorcycle.

What’s Next

Livers remains in custody pending a court appearance in Nelson County. His bond information and next hearing date have not yet been released.
