Kentucky Man Arrested for Alleged Online Crimes Involving Minors
AUBURN, KENTUCKY — A 25-year-old man from Logan County has been arrested following an undercover investigation into alleged online activity involving minors, according to the Kentucky State Police (KSP).
Authorities said Zachary Anthony Stogner was taken into custody on October 4 after investigators executed a search and interview, seizing digital equipment believed to have been used in the alleged crimes.
Undercover Investigation Leads to Arrest
Troopers said the investigation began as part of a statewide cybercrimes initiative aimed at identifying individuals engaging in illegal communication or exploitation of minors through electronic means.
Following the operation, Stogner was charged with one count of procuring a minor by electronic means, a Class C felony under Kentucky law. The charge carries a penalty of five to ten years in prison if convicted.
Police confirmed that Stogner was booked into the Logan County Detention Center and that the investigation remains ongoing as authorities analyze the seized equipment.
Community and Law Enforcement Response
Local authorities have emphasized the importance of cyber awareness and online safety, reminding parents and guardians to monitor children’s internet use and report suspicious activity.
Investigators say online crimes targeting minors are becoming increasingly sophisticated, often involving social media and gaming platforms used to gain trust before exploitation occurs.
The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch continues to work with national cybercrime task forces to track down offenders and prevent similar incidents in the future.
Law enforcement officials urge residents to remain alert and to report suspected child exploitation or online abuse through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST or via the CyberTipline.
