Kentucky Man Dies in Birmingham Motorcycle Crash; Police Investigating Cause

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA — A Kentucky man has died after a motorcycle crash in Birmingham late Saturday night, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Officials identified the victim as 34-year-old Andrew Amburgey of Louisville, Kentucky, who was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital shortly after 11:00 p.m. on October 4.

Crash Happened Near 5th Avenue North

Authorities say Amburgey was riding his motorcycle near 5th Avenue North and 48th Street around 10:20 p.m. when the accident occurred.

Emergency crews responded quickly and transported him to the hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.

Police confirmed that Amburgey was the only person involved in the wreck and that no other vehicles were impacted.

“The Birmingham Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash,” officials said in a brief statement Sunday.

Investigation Underway

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office and Birmingham Police Traffic Division are working together to determine what caused the motorcycle to go off course.

Investigators have not yet released any details regarding speed, weather, or possible mechanical issues, but they confirmed that no foul play is suspected at this time.

Amburgey’s family in Louisville has been notified, and police said the full crash report will be released once the investigation is complete.
