Kentucky Man Wanted on Child Sex Crime Charges Remains at Large, Sheriff Warns Public to Stay Alert
BULLITT COUNTY, KENTUCKY — A 48-year-old man accused of multiple child sex crimes is on the run, and authorities are urging the public to stay alert as they work to locate him. Officials say John “Kevin” Taylor has been missing for weeks after skipping a court appearance tied to a series of serious felony charges.
Sheriff: “He Needs to Be Off the Streets”
Bullitt County Sheriff Walt Sholar said Taylor poses a significant danger and must be located as soon as possible.
“He needs to be off the streets. We need to get him arrested. He’s a dangerous man,” Sholar warned in a statement to the media.
The department has distributed a wanted poster and continues to ask residents across Kentucky and neighboring Tennessee to watch for any sign of Taylor.
Multiple Child Sex Crime Charges Filed This Year
Taylor’s legal troubles began in April 2025, when investigators charged him with:
- Sexual abuse of a child under age 12
- Possession of child pornography
- Tampering with physical evidence
Court documents show that Taylor posted his $75,000 cash bond shortly after being booked.
But the case expanded in October, when he received three additional felony charges for possessing or viewing sexual images involving minors. Taylor failed to appear in court for those new charges and has been missing ever since.
Authorities Believe He May Be Living Outdoors or Staying with Friends
Sheriff Sholar said Taylor has connections across multiple counties and may be actively moving from place to place.
Taylor is described as:
- 48 years old
- 5’10”
- 190 pounds
- Brown hair
- Green eyes
Officials believe he may be using his survival skills to remain hidden.
“He’s known to have friends throughout the region, throughout Kentucky and Tennessee,” Sholar said.
“He may be staying in the woods. He may be staying with friends.”
Residents are urged not to approach Taylor under any circumstances.
