Kentucky State Police Investigating Sexual Assault After Party at Kentucky Lake

WESTERN KENTUCKY — The Kentucky State Police (KSP) are investigating a reported sexual assault after a party at Kentucky Lake’s Smith Bay area, part of the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.

Troopers said the assault occurred on the night of August 30. The following morning, August 31, a woman was found unconscious on the bank of Kentucky Lake.

Victim’s Condition and Medical Findings

When she regained consciousness, police said the woman refused medical treatment at the scene. Later that day, she went to a nearby hospital, where doctors determined she had injuries consistent with sexual assault.

Investigators confirmed the woman had been at a glow party in the Smith Bay area on the night of the reported assault. She told authorities she lost consciousness sometime after attending the gathering.

Public Asked to Provide Information

Detectives with KSP Post 1 are actively pursuing leads but stressed the importance of community assistance. They are asking anyone with knowledge of what occurred during the glow party to come forward.
