Kentucky State Police Traffic Blitz Leads to 177 Charges and Multiple Arrests Across Louisville Highways

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY — Kentucky State Police Post 4 intensified its traffic enforcement presence in Jefferson County this week, conducting a large-scale one-day operation that resulted in 177 charges, multiple arrests, and several citations aimed at improving roadway safety.

Troopers Flooded Louisville Highways in Targeted Safety Operation

On November 19, Post 4 troopers carried out a coordinated traffic enforcement blitz along major Louisville interstates — I-264, I-265, and I-65 — focusing on speeding, dangerous driving, and compliance with state safety laws.

During the single-day effort, troopers conducted:

  • 63 traffic stops
  • 27 speeding citations
  • 7 seat belt violations
  • 6 move-over violations
  • 14 courtesy notices

In total, they issued 177 charges, including several drug-related offenses.

Four People Arrested, Including One Linked to a Stolen Firearm

Troopers also arrested four individuals who had outstanding warrants.
One person was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun and receiving a stolen firearm — the same gun reported stolen from the Louisville Metro area.

Authorities said these types of enforcement days help remove violent offenders and illegal weapons from Kentucky roadways.

KSP: These Operations Will Become More Frequent

Post 4 Captain Jeremy Smith said residents should expect more of these targeted enforcement events, emphasizing that even small interventions can save lives.

“Every citation we write, every courtesy notice we issue—those actions matter,” Captain Smith said.
“Our efforts during these operations can prevent a tragedy before it happens.”

He praised troopers for their commitment to keeping Kentucky roads safe.
