Kentucky Teen Sentenced to 5 Years After Stolen Van Chase Ends in Ohio Crash and Manhunt
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, OHIO — An 18-year-old Kentucky man has been sentenced to five years in prison after leading Springboro police on a dangerous high-speed chase in a stolen minivan, which ended in a crash, manhunt, and shelter-in-place alert in Montgomery County, Ohio.
According to the Warren County Common Pleas Court, Trevor Walker, of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, was sentenced immediately after pleading guilty to multiple felony charges linked to the August 11, 2025, pursuit.
The Chase Began With a Stolen Van Linked to a Home Invasion
Court documents show the pursuit began around Ohio 741 near Pennyroyal Road, where Springboro police spotted a stolen Toyota Sienna. The van was registered to Walker’s grandmother in Franklin County, Kentucky, and reportedly connected to both a missing person case and a home invasion investigation, police said.
When Officer Jeff Strader attempted a traffic stop, Walker sped away, ran multiple red lights, and eventually crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Ohio 725 and Paragon Road in Washington Township.
“The defendant fled from the officer at a high rate of speed, ran red lights, and crashed into a vehicle, which ended the pursuit,” the criminal complaint read.
The wrecked van was later searched, where officers discovered a loaded revolver and a long rifle, items that investigators linked to the earlier home invasion and stolen firearms report out of Kentucky.
Police Launch Manhunt and Lockdown
Following the crash, Walker fled on foot toward Oak Creek South Park. Court records show he attempted to steal a motorcycle before continuing to run.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office issued a shelter-in-place advisory as multiple law enforcement agencies joined the search — including FBI agents, U.S. Marshals, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, and local SWAT teams from nearby Centerville, Miamisburg, and Franklin.
After several hours, Walker was found hiding inside a storm drain near 8110 Paragon Road and arrested without further incident, according to Sheriff Chief of Staff Jeremy Roy.
“The suspect was taken into custody safely following a coordinated effort among several responding agencies,” Roy confirmed.
Charges and Sentence
Walker pleaded guilty to:
- Failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer
- Carrying concealed weapons
- Inducing panic
- Two counts of receiving stolen property
He was sentenced by Judge Robert Peeler to five years in prison for the combined charges.
Authorities say Walker’s crimes spanned two states, and investigators continue to coordinate with Kentucky police regarding the home invasion and firearm thefts connected to his case.
Multi-State Investigation Continues
The dramatic pursuit and subsequent arrest drew widespread attention across southwestern Ohio. Officials said it serves as a reminder of the risks police face during high-speed chases and the growing number of cross-state criminal incidents involving stolen vehicles.
Walker remains in custody at the Warren County Jail, where he will begin serving his sentence before possible extradition on related Kentucky charges.
This multi-state pursuit underscores the growing coordination between local and federal agencies in handling cross-border crimes. For more breaking crime updates and regional coverage, visit ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
