Kentucky Woman Found Shot to Death Along Rural Route 979 in Floyd County, Police Say

BEAVER, KENTUCKY — Kentucky State Police have launched a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead from a gunshot wound along a rural roadway in Floyd County on Friday.

Investigators Respond to Report of an Unresponsive Woman

Troopers from Kentucky State Police Post 9 were called to Route 979 in Beaver after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman lying near the roadway. When officers arrived, they discovered the body of 35-year-old Sarah Slone, a resident of the Beaver community.

Authorities confirmed that Slone had been shot to death.

Her body was transported to the Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office for a full autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

KSP Detective Leading the Ongoing Case

KSP identified Detective Dylan Mullins as the lead investigator.
No arrests have been made, and police have not released information about suspects or possible motives.

State police have also not indicated whether the shooting occurred at the roadside or if Slone was left at the location.
