KSP Post 1 Launches Annual ‘Cram the Cruiser’ Food Drive to Support Local Families This Holiday Season

MAYFIELD, KY — Kentucky State Police Post 1 has officially kicked off its 2025 Cram the Cruiser holiday food drive, inviting community members to donate non-perishable food items now through December 5. The annual effort partners with local food pantries to help ensure families across Western Kentucky have access to meals during the holiday season.

Donations Accepted Through December 5 at KSP Post 1

Residents wishing to contribute can drop off non-perishable food items at KSP Post 1, located at 8366 US Highway 45 N in Hickory, Kentucky. A marked cruiser will be parked in front of the building where donated items can be placed. Food can also be brought directly into the lobby during business hours.

Troopers say all items collected will be distributed to food pantries throughout the local region to support families in need.

Special Event Planned at Murray Kroger

As part of the food drive, KSP Post 1 will host a signature community collection event at the Kroger in Murray on December 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. CT. Troopers will be onsite accepting donations and engaging with shoppers who wish to participate.

This event historically brings in large volumes of food and allows families to meet officers while supporting a meaningful cause.

Suggested Donation Items

KSP offered a list of commonly needed non-perishables that local food pantries rely on, including:

  • Canned vegetables, fruit, soups, beans
  • Canned chicken and tuna
  • Pasta and pasta sauce
  • Instant oatmeal and instant potatoes
  • Peanut butter and other shelf-stable staples

Troopers ask that all donated food be unopened and unexpired to ensure safe distribution.

Community Encouraged to Help Fight Hunger

With the holiday season approaching, KSP officials say the community’s support is more important than ever. Local food banks often see increased demand during November and December, and every contribution — big or small — helps families facing hardship.
