La Crosse Man Arrested After Biting, Scratching Officers and Nurse During Violent Struggle

LA CROSSE, Wis. — A western Wisconsin man is facing multiple charges after allegedly biting, scratching, and kicking several police officers and a nurse during his arrest earlier this week.
Arrest After No-Contact Violation
According to the La Crosse Police Department, officers were called to the 3200 block of Ebner Coulee around 10 p.m. Wednesday after reports that the man had violated a no-contact order involving his ex-girlfriend.
When officers attempted to confront him, he ran into a wooded area behind the home. Police say he actively resisted arrest, purposely throwing himself to the ground while kicking, scratching, and biting two officers.
Assault Continued at Hospital
The man was later transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation, where he allegedly scratched a nurse and another officer. Police added that he also spit in a sergeant’s face before finally being booked into jail.
Chief Condemns Attacks
“These types of assaults on law enforcement and medical staff cannot be tolerated,” said La Crosse Police Chief Shawn Kudron in a statement. “Officers and medical staff are doing their jobs, protecting and serving the community.”
Multiple Charges Filed
The suspect is now facing an extensive list of charges, including:
- Four counts of battery to law enforcement
- Resisting arrest
- Discharging bodily fluids at a public worker
- Criminal damage to property
- Two counts of disorderly conduct
- Three counts of misdemeanor bail jumping
