Lancaster County Judge Approves Extradition of Wisconsin Murder Suspect Caught After Lincoln Crash

LINCOLN, NE — A Lancaster County judge has authorized the extradition of a Wisconsin murder suspect accused of killing a 67-year-old woman and fleeing across state lines before crashing his vehicle near Lincoln.

Judge Orders Extradition

At a court hearing Thursday, District Judge Lori Maret approved the transfer of Gavin Thompson, 23, back to Wisconsin to face charges, according to court records.

Lancaster County Attorney Pat Condon confirmed that Wisconsin authorities will now travel to Nebraska to take Thompson into custody.

Accused of Killing Dorinda Segebrecht

Thompson is accused of murdering Dorinda Segebrecht, 67, in Wisconsin earlier this year.

After the killing, authorities say Thompson fled in a vehicle, leading Nebraska law enforcement on a pursuit that ended in a crash west of Lincoln.

Capture After Manhunt

Following a four-hour manhunt on July 16, Thompson was arrested and booked into the Lancaster County Jail.

Authorities later discovered Segebrecht’s body inside the trunk of the car, confirming suspicions that the case involved a homicide.

This extradition clears the way for Wisconsin prosecutors to formally pursue charges against Thompson in the killing of Dorinda Segebrecht.
