Lexington Police Investigate Early-Morning Shooting on Sutherland Drive

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY — Police in Lexington are investigating an early-morning shooting that sent one person to the hospital after officers responded to reports of gunfire on Sutherland Drive Thursday.

According to the Lexington Police Department, officers were called to the scene just before 3 a.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls about a possible shooting in the area.

Victim Found Inside Home

When officers arrived, they located a victim inside a nearby home suffering from a gunshot wound. Police said the individual was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the victim is an adult or juvenile, and their name has not been released at this time.

“Our officers responded quickly to the call,” said a department spokesperson. “At this stage, we’re still working to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting.”

No Arrests or Suspect Information Released

As of Thursday afternoon, investigators said they had no information on a possible suspect and have not confirmed whether the shooting was targeted or random.

Police remained in the area for several hours after the incident, collecting shell casings and canvassing nearby homes for security footage that might shed light on what happened.

“We are asking anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in the area to reach out,” the spokesperson added.
