MADISON, Wisconsin — A Sunday evening crash on the Beltline near US 51 temporarily shut down multiple lanes of traffic before authorities reopened the roadway less than an hour later, according to the Madison Police Department (MPD) and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).

Crash Details

WisDOT reported that the crash occurred around 4:17 p.m. Sunday on US 12 westbound at US 51. Officials confirmed that the three left lanes of US 12 were closed to traffic as emergency crews responded.

By 5:26 p.m., WisDOT announced the incident had been cleared and all lanes were reopened.

Police Statement

MPD confirmed that a call came in around 4:19 p.m. for an accident with injuries reported, though police could not immediately confirm the number or severity of injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, and officials have not released additional details about those involved.
