Melbourne Lifts Boil Water Notice for Brookside Drive After Main Repair and Safety Tests

Boil Water Notice Update

MELBOURNE, Florida — The City of Melbourne has officially rescinded the boil water notice that was issued last week for residents along Brookside Drive and parts of South Harbor City Boulevard, confirming the water supply is now safe to drink.

The advisory, first issued on September 24, was triggered after repairs to a water main in the affected area. Impacted addresses included 2332–2344 Brookside Drive and the 100 and 200 blocks of South Harbor City Boulevard.

Safety Tests Confirm Clean Water

Following the repair work, the city conducted a bacteriological survey to verify water quality. Officials confirmed that test results came back safe, allowing the notice to be lifted.

City officials emphasized that the boil water order had been a precautionary measure, intended to protect residents while testing was underway.

City Thanks Residents for Patience

In a statement, Melbourne’s Public Works and Utilities Department thanked residents for their cooperation during the advisory period. Customers with questions were encouraged to call the Public Works and Utilities Administration office or the city’s after-hours emergency line.

What Residents Should Know

With the advisory lifted, residents can now use tap water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning without the need to boil it first. The city stressed that there is no ongoing health risk connected to the water supply in the affected area.

The end of the precautionary notice brings relief to Brookside Drive residents who had spent nearly a week taking extra steps to ensure water safety.
