Miami Man Accused of Shoving Woman Off Elevated Train Platform to Her Death in Midday Attack

MIAMI, FLORIDA — A 32-year-old woman was killed in a horrifying midday attack after a man allegedly walked up to her at a Miami Metrorail station and pushed her off an elevated platform, sending her falling several stories to her death.

Miami-Dade authorities say 45-year-old Jorge Gomez has been charged with second-degree murder in the shocking, unprovoked killing of Kanisa Love at the Dadeland North Metrorail Station.

A Random Encounter Turns Deadly in Seconds

According to an arrest report reviewed by local outlets, the attack happened around 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 14. Witness statements and surveillance footage reportedly show Love backing away as Gomez approached her — then suddenly, without warning:

“He pushed the victim off the Metrorail platform resulting in her death.”

The platform where Love was shoved is elevated dozens of feet above ground, making the fall immediately fatal.

Though the deadly push happened shortly after noon, first responders were not called until the following morning, when authorities discovered Love’s body and determined she suffered blunt-force trauma to the head.

Judge: “You see it all.”

Gomez appeared before a Miami-Dade judge on Friday, where prosecutors described the attack as completely unprovoked and captured clearly on video.

Judge Mindy Glazer expressed disbelief at the brutality of the act:

“He killed a 32-year-old lady standing on a Metrorail station, pushed her off. You see it all.”

The judge ordered Gomez to be held without bond pending trial.

Suspect Has a History With Police

Court records show Gomez has an arrest history dating back to 2014, though details of those prior cases were not immediately released. Investigators have not indicated any motive, relationship, or previous interaction between Gomez and the victim.

Authorities say Love was simply standing on the platform when the attack occurred.

A Community Reeling From a Sudden Act of Violence

The Dadeland North Metrorail Station, one of the busiest transit spots in Miami, remained closed for hours as investigators worked the scene. Commuters and local residents told reporters the incident has left them shaken, given how crowded the station is during the lunchtime rush.

Love’s family has not yet made a public statement, but friends online described her as “kind,” “quiet,” and “full of life.”
