Milwaukee Police Investigate Deadly Triple Shooting on City’s North Side

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN — One person is dead and two others are hospitalized after a triple shooting late Wednesday night on Milwaukee’s north side, marking the latest in a string of violent incidents across the city.

Police say the shooting occurred just after 10 p.m. near North 51st Street and West Garfield Avenue. When officers arrived, they found three victims suffering from gunshot wounds inside a residence.

Victim Identified as 44-Year-Old Milwaukee Man

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man who died as 44-year-old Alex Patterson, a Milwaukee resident. Authorities said Patterson was shot and killed after a possible physical altercation inside his friend’s home.

Two additional victims — a 28-year-old man and a 24-year-old man — were also struck by gunfire and transported to a nearby hospital. Both victims are expected to survive, according to police.

Witnesses Describe the Scene

Neighbors said the quiet night quickly turned chaotic. Iona Dillon, who lives next door to where the shooting happened, told WISN 12 News she heard shouting before police flooded the area.

“It was about 10. I was in my room and I heard a man yelling,” Dillon said. “There were no words, it was just a shock. I thought there might’ve been a fight in the alley, and then moments later there were lots of police taping the area.”

Investigators were seen focusing on the house next door to Dillon’s as evidence markers were placed throughout the scene.

The deadly shooting adds to a wave of gun violence that has gripped the city in recent days. Since Saturday morning, police say at least 17 people have been shot in Milwaukee, seven of them fatally.

The suspect in Wednesday’s triple shooting has not yet been arrested, and detectives are continuing to search for those responsible.
