49-Year-Old Man Killed in First Shooting Near North 35th and West Galena
The first shooting occurred around 5:58 p.m. near North 35th Street and West Galena Street, just east of Washington Park. Responding officers found a 49-year-old man suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the victim Wednesday morning as Major C. Milan.
A significant police presence surrounded the area as forensic teams processed evidence and canvassed for witnesses. Investigators have not confirmed a motive and have not released information about potential suspects.
Second Shooting Reported Four Hours Later on North 52nd Street
Approximately four hours later, around 10:30 p.m., officers were called to another shooting scene on North 52nd Street near West Lloyd Street, just west of Washington Park.
When police arrived, they found a 27-year-old man who had been shot and killed. He was later identified as Austin L. Hanson.
Detectives say the circumstances of the shooting are still being pieced together. No suspects are currently in custody, and investigators have not ruled out any potential connections between the two homicides.
