Minnesota Man Charged in Wisconsin for Allegedly Repeatedly Assaulting 12-Year-Old

MONROE COUNTY, WISCONSIN — A 26-year-old Minnesota man has been arrested and charged in Wisconsin with repeated sexual assault of a child after police uncovered explicit messages between him and a 12-year-old, according to Monroe County court documents.

The suspect, identified as Jack Erdman of Rochester, is facing 18 felony counts that include repeated sexual assault of a child, use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, and child enticement.

Investigation Reveals Repeated Assaults

According to the criminal complaint, Monroe County investigators began examining Erdman’s online activity after receiving reports of inappropriate sexual communication with a minor.

Authorities said they discovered graphic messages exchanged between Erdman and the 12-year-old through digital platforms. During interviews, the child told investigators that sexual contact occurred at least three times.

The findings led prosecutors to file multiple felony charges, citing a pattern of abuse and exploitation.

History of Prior Sexual Offenses

Court records show that Erdman has a prior criminal history involving sexual crimes against minors. He was charged in 2018 and 2019 with similar offenses and later convicted of fourth-degree sexual assault in 2021.

Officials say his previous convictions and continued behavior indicate an ongoing risk to the community.

“This case demonstrates an alarming pattern of predatory behavior,” one Monroe County official said. “Our priority now is ensuring that the victim receives protection and that this offender remains off the streets.”

Held on $500,000 Cash Bond

Erdman was booked into the Monroe County Jail, where he is being held on a $500,000 cash bond. Prosecutors requested the high bond amount, citing the severity of the charges and his prior convictions.

He is expected to appear in court later this month for a preliminary hearing. If convicted on all charges, Erdman faces decades in prison under Wisconsin law.

Officials Warn of Online Predators

Authorities are urging parents to monitor their children’s digital communications and report any suspicious activity immediately.

“Technology has made it easier for predators to reach vulnerable victims,” an investigator said. “Parents should stay involved in their children’s online lives and know who they are communicating with.”

Anyone with information related to this case or other potential victims is asked to contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
