Missouri Teen Killed by Stray Bullet While Playing Video Games in His Bedroom — Family Calls for Justice
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI – What should have been a quiet night at home turned into tragedy when a 14-year-old boy was shot and killed by a stray bullet while playing video games in his bedroom, according to the St. Louis County Police Department.
“He Was Just Minding His Business”
Police say officers responded to the 10200 block of Hobkirk Drive around 6 p.m. Wednesday after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found Duwan Morgan, 14, dead from a single gunshot wound inside his home.
Investigators believe the shot came from an outside gunfight between two groups of teens, one of which fired toward nearby houses — with one bullet tragically entering the Morgan residence.
“A senseless shootout led to a stray bullet entering my home, striking my beloved son,” his mother, Keshia Morgan, wrote in a GoFundMe post. “Duwan was a vibrant, caring young man with a bright future ahead of him. This loss has left an indescribable void in our lives.”
The boy’s mother and two brothers were home at the time of the shooting but were not injured.
Family Pleads for Answers
Duwan’s aunt, Erica Davis, told KSDK-TV that her nephew was simply playing video games when the bullet hit him.
“He was minding his business, doing nothing. Just sitting in his room,” Davis said. “And now he’s gone.”
Davis said the teen had just started high school and was excited about the future before his life was taken in an instant.
“He was a beautiful, nice kid,” she added. “My family will never be the same. He didn’t deserve to lose his life like this.”

Police believe witnesses in the neighborhood may have seen the shooters flee after the exchange of gunfire.
The community is now calling for stronger measures to address youth violence in St. Louis County, where several recent shootings have involved teens caught in crossfire.
