Nashville Man Arrested in Kentucky After Troopers Seize Meth and Fentanyl During Traffic Stop
FRANKLIN, KY – A Nashville man is facing serious drug trafficking charges after Kentucky authorities say they found methamphetamine and fentanyl during a traffic stop last week.
Troopers Stop Suspected Dealer Traveling on Interstate 65
According to the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force, agents received information on Nov. 13 that 29-year-old Juarez Montgomery would be traveling to Franklin, Kentucky, with a large amount of methamphetamine and some fentanyl.
Troopers with the Kentucky State Police Interdiction Team located his vehicle heading north on Interstate 65 and conducted a traffic stop. Montgomery was detained and taken to the Drug Task Force office for further investigation.
Drugs Found After Montgomery Denied Having Anything Illegal
Authorities say Montgomery was warned that he would face additional charges if he entered the jail with illegal drugs on him. Despite allegedly denying possession, troopers later discovered:
- Approximately 3 ounces of methamphetamine
- About 2 grams of fentanyl
Officials say the drugs were found after a personal search was conducted at the task force office.
Suspect Faces Multiple Felony Charges
Montgomery has been charged with:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (2 grams or more)
- Importing carfentanil, fentanyl, or fentanyl derivatives
He is currently being held at the Simpson County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.
Community Impact and Ongoing Enforcement
Authorities say the seizure is another example of targeted efforts to reduce the flow of dangerous narcotics along Kentucky highways. Interstate 65 continues to be a major corridor used by drug traffickers traveling between Tennessee and Kentucky.
Officials note that investigations into possible connections, suppliers, or larger trafficking operations remain ongoing.
