New Hampshire Couple Delivers Baby Outside Fire Station With Help From First Responders

KEENE, New Hampshire — A couple’s drive to the hospital took an unexpected turn when they realized they wouldn’t make it in time, leading to the birth of their son outside a local fire station with the help of first responders.

Baby Born Outside Firehouse

Stephanie and Noah Weston were on their way to Cheshire Medical Center last week when Stephanie suddenly went into labor. The couple quickly called 911 and pulled into the Keene Fire Department, where firefighters and EMTs rushed to help.

Within six minutes of the call, Stephanie delivered the baby in the parking lot. “I was like, I’m pushing out a baby right now and I’m not kidding. It’s happening and it’s happening now,” she recalled in an interview with WMUR.

A Surprise for the New Parents

New father Noah described the surreal moment when the fire chief announced the time of birth. “All of a sudden, the chief walks away from the side of our truck. And he goes, ‘Oh, time of birth, 2:17 p.m.’ And I was like, what, he’s born already?” Noah told NBC5.

Stephanie added that she was just as stunned. “Did this just happen?” she remembered asking in disbelief. Their son, Walker, was born weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces.

Firefighters Commended the Mother’s Bravery

The local chapter of the International Association of Fire Fighters praised Stephanie’s quick thinking in driving directly to the fire station. “Both mom and baby are doing well and were quickly transported to the hospital by our ambulances for further care,” the department said in a statement.

They also issued an important reminder: while fire stations are staffed, it’s always best to call 911 first, since crews may be away responding to other emergencies.

The heartwarming delivery story has touched the Keene community, showing how first responders are always ready to act when every second counts. For more uplifting stories and local human interest news, follow ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
