Ohio Man Confesses to Fatally Stabbing His Father After Argument: ‘Something Is Wrong with Me’
CINCINNATI, OHIO — A 33-year-old Ohio man is behind bars after he confessed to killing his father during an argument, later telling police, “something is wrong with me.”
Jared Luecke was arrested Thursday and charged with murder and tampering with evidence in the death of his father, 69-year-old John Luecke, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
Confrontation Turned Deadly
Police say the fatal confrontation happened inside the family’s home on the 8300 block of Wicklow Avenue in Sycamore Township, about 10 miles northeast of downtown Cincinnati.
According to a court affidavit, an argument between the father and son escalated into violence when Jared went to his room and returned armed with a crowbar and a knife.
“Jared used the crowbar to attack John, striking him twice in the shoulder,” the detective’s report stated. “John struggled with Jared, grabbing the crowbar. Jared then picked up the knife that had fallen from his pocket and stabbed his father seven to eight times in the chest.”
Investigators said John Luecke died from multiple stab wounds, and his son later attempted to clean up the crime scene using household cleaning supplies.
Disturbing 911 Confession
After the attack, Jared Luecke reportedly called 911 himself, calmly admitting to killing his father.
“I need to be arrested,” he told the dispatcher, according to WXIX-TV. “I’ve been in a fight with my father, and I think he’s dead.”
Luecke said the confrontation began when his father shoved him during an argument.
“Yeah, we got into an altercation, and he shoved me, and I have and always carry a knife,” he said. “It fell to the floor out of my pocket. He picked it up, and I thought he was gonna come at me — and I just… I snapped.”
‘I’ve Tried Telling People I Needed Help’
During the call, Luecke reportedly revealed a history of mental health struggles, saying he had undiagnosed depression and ADHD and had asked for help in the past.
“I’ve had mental issues for a while, and I’ve tried telling people that I needed help and nobody ever cared,” he told the dispatcher. “Something is wrong with me.”
Arrest and Court Appearance
Luecke was taken into custody Thursday evening and booked into the Hamilton County Jail. He appeared before Judge Bernie Bouchard on Friday, where his bond was set at $1 million.
He remains jailed as detectives continue to investigate the case.
