Ohio Mom Says Group of Boys Under 10 Brutally Beat 5-Year-Old Girl, Pulled Out Her Hair and Shoved Sticks Down Her Throat

CLEVELAND, OHIO – ‘Shoved sticks down her throat’: 5-year-old girl gets ‘hair pulled from her scalp’ during vicious attack by group of boys all under age 10, mom says.A 5-year-old girl is recovering after suffering horrifying injuries during a brutal attack carried out by multiple boys under the age of 10. The incident unfolded in a Cleveland neighborhood, leaving the child’s family and community shaken as authorities investigate whether charges can be brought against such young suspects.

According to her mother, Antavia Kennibrew, the little girl was approached by a group of boys who, under the guise of friendship, led her into a remote field. Reports state that once out of view, the boys violently beat the child until she lost consciousness, shoved sticks down her throat, stripped her, used her own shirt to strangle her, and forcibly pulled chunks of her hair from her scalp. Kennibrew detailed her daughter’s injuries in a public post: “Her hair was scalped from her head. She had bruises and blood all over her body. Her eyes were filled with blood. Her lips and mouth were filled with blood. Her nails had debris and dirt stuck in it”.

The Cleveland Division of Police has confirmed an investigation by their Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit. Authorities have identified several suspects, all believed to be under age 10. The case is complicated due to Ohio law, with police explaining to the family that the age of the boys—just 8 and 9 years old—could prevent prosecution for the most serious offenses. Kennibrew expressed frustration with the justice system, saying, “They are trying to tell me that two of the kids can’t and won’t be charged because they are 8 and 9 years old, even though they attempted to murder my baby and they raped and beat her”.

Family members raised alarm when the girl went missing; only the boys remained visible in the street, offering no information on her whereabouts. The child was eventually found several blocks away by emergency workers and rushed into care. She faces a long road to recovery, enduring severe trauma and months of therapy. Kennibrew says that both the children responsible and their parents must be held accountable for the violence.

Police continue their investigation, and the case has become a rallying point for advocates urging reform of laws that protect victims and ensure accountability, regardless of age. The community remains on edge as they await answers and hope for justice for the young survivor.
