Ohio Woman Avoids Prison After Helping Kidnap 12-Year-Old Boy and Pour Bleach on His Face, Court Records Show

OHIO – A 33-year-old Dayton woman accused of helping abduct a 12-year-old boy and assaulting him with bleach earlier this year has been released from custody after accepting a plea agreement that resulted in a sentence of time served.

Reka Jarmon pleaded guilty on Dec. 5 to trespassing in a habitation and child endangerment, significantly reduced charges from the original counts of kidnapping, abduction, and assault. According to court records, the February incident involved Jarmon assisting 38-year-old DeMarcus Pleasure in forcibly taking his young nephew from a home and pouring bleach on the boy’s face.

Pleasure, who admitted to his role in the crime during a separate plea hearing on Nov. 7, was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to abduction. His kidnapping and assault charges were dismissed.

Child Suffered Eye and Facial Injuries but Has Since Recovered

The case began on Feb. 22, when Jarmon and Pleasure went to a residence where the 12-year-old boy lived. Prosecutors said the pair forced the child into a vehicle, drove him to another location, and poured bleach on his face, causing significant irritation and injuries to his eyes and skin. The victim has since recovered.

During his sentencing hearing, Pleasure told the court, “I made a mistake,” and argued that he did not initially believe forcing a relative into a vehicle constituted kidnapping. He added, “I lived with this little boy. I raised him as my own.”

Local media outlets, including the Dayton Daily News and WHIO-TV, reported that police had suggested the child may have been suspected of sexual assault prior to the incident, though authorities have not confirmed that claim publicly.

Charges Dropped for Both Defendants Under Plea Agreements

In both cases, prosecutors chose to drop the most serious charges in exchange for guilty pleas.

Pleasure’s charges of kidnapping and assault were dismissed, resulting in a three-year prison term for abduction.

Jarmon, who faced the same initial charges, also had kidnapping and assault counts dropped. With the court crediting her for time already served in jail while awaiting proceedings, she was released immediately following her Dec. 5 sentencing.

Case Concludes With Two Vastly Different Outcomes

Though both defendants were accused of participating in the same violent offense, their court outcomes diverged significantly—Pleasure receiving years in prison, while Jarmon walked free.
