One Dead, One Injured After Hit-and-Run Crash on Westport Road in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A hit-and-run crash on Westport Road left one person dead and another injured after a motorcyclist collided with a truck Friday night, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.
Details of the Crash
Police said the incident happened around 9:15 p.m. at the intersection of Westport Road and Interstate 265. A Ford F-150 attempted a left turn from Westport Road onto I-265 southbound and cut into the path of an oncoming motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was unable to avoid the truck and crashed directly into it.
Victims and Injuries
Both the motorcycle driver and passenger were taken to UofL Hospital. Authorities confirmed the passenger died Sunday afternoon from injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the motorcycle suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police also noted that neither victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Driver Fled the Scene
According to police, the driver of the truck failed to render aid and fled on foot immediately after the crash. Despite a lengthy search of the area, officers were unable to locate the individual.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify and apprehend the suspect.
