Pedestrian in Critical Condition After Being Struck by Pickup Truck on Dixie Highway Near Valley Station

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY — A pedestrian was rushed to the hospital in critical condition Wednesday evening after being struck by a pickup truck along Dixie Highway near Valley Station, according to Louisville Metro Police (LMPD).

The crash happened around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Dixie Highway and West Blevins Gap Road, just outside the Valley Station area.

Police say the pickup truck was traveling north on Dixie Highway when it hit a person who was in the roadway. Emergency crews arrived to find the victim critically injured and lying in the street.

Victim Taken to University of Louisville Hospital

According to LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell, the pedestrian was transported to University of Louisville Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Due to the severity of the injuries, LMPD’s Traffic Unit has taken over the investigation.

“All parties involved stayed at the scene,” Mitchell confirmed, adding that investigators are still working to determine what led to the collision and whether speed or lighting conditions played a role.

Dixie Highway Remains a Dangerous Stretch for Pedestrians

The stretch of Dixie Highway through Valley Station has long been considered one of Louisville’s most dangerous corridors for both drivers and pedestrians.

Local residents have repeatedly called for better lighting, safer crossings, and lower speed limits after multiple serious accidents in recent years.

While details from Wednesday’s crash remain under review, police are urging drivers to slow down and stay alert, especially during early evening hours when visibility drops.
