Riviera Beach Man Charged After Alleged Kidnapping, Strangulation and Threats to Family

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. – Police arrested Nicolas Guy, 22, after a woman reported he kidnapped her, assaulted and strangled her inside her vehicle, then later sat outside her home for hours while sending threatening texts about killing her and family members, authorities said.

What investigators say happened the night of the attack

According to the probable cause affidavit, the incident began when the victim picked up Guy from work and drove him to his apartment complex parking area in Palm Beach County. The woman told detectives that Guy struck her in the face, broke fingernails, grabbed her by the hair and then forced her into her car after taking her keys.

The affidavit describes a prolonged and violent episode: Guy allegedly choked the victim until she feared for her life, waved a small pocketknife and threatened to stab her, smashed parts of the vehicle while holding her captive, and later returned to Riviera Beach, where he reportedly sat near her home for about seven hours, calling and texting menacing messages directed at her and her relatives.

Charges, evidence and weapons mentioned by investigators

Police arrested Guy and charged him with kidnapping by false imprisonment, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, domestic battery by strangulation, making written threats to kill, and obstructing justice. Court records show he is being held on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled for follow-up hearings.

The victim told investigators Guy kept an assault-style Wilson Combat AR-type pistol in a backpack she had seen on his porch, and she said he had previously pointed the weapon at her and fired shots into the air outside her house. During the attack he also allegedly used a 2–3-inch folding pocketknife, which the victim later threw from the vehicle when she had a chance. These details are included in the arrest affidavit and are part of investigators’ evidence inventory.

Victim’s injuries, escape and ongoing safety concerns

The victim reported visible injuries — including a swollen area around one eye and scalp trauma from being grabbed by the hair — and described fearing for her life during the strangulation episodes. She later managed to retrieve her keys, leave Guy’s home, drive to work, and call 911 once she reached a safe location.

Investigators say the suspect’s repeated threats against the victim’s family — including graphic text messages referencing shooting family members — elevated concerns about public safety and prompted aggressive pursuit of the case by Palm Beach County authorities. Law enforcement is continuing to collect evidence and interview witnesses as the prosecution prepares its case.
