Rockford Couple Arrested After Maple Street Shooting Leaves Vehicle Riddled With Bullets

ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS – A Rockford couple has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a shooting near Maple Street and North Horsman Street on Saturday, August 23. Authorities say the suspects opened fire on a vehicle with two women and a child inside.
Shots Fired in Broad Daylight
Police say the shooting happened around 12:44 p.m., just north of downtown Rockford. When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that had been struck multiple times by bullets. Inside the car were two women and a young child — none of whom were injured.

Police located and arrested the pair on Tuesday, August 26. They were taken into custody without incident and booked into the Winnebago County Jail as the investigation continued.

Following a review of the case, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized several charges against both suspects.
- Dyvon Thompson faces two counts of Attempted Murder, two counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
- Aaliyah Talford faces two counts of Attempted Murder and two counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.
At this time, both remain in custody. Authorities noted that additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
