Tennessee Suspect Captured After High-Speed Chase Ends in Mississippi

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A 21-year-old Tennessee man is in custody after a high-speed pursuit that began in Shelby County and crossed into Mississippi earlier this month. Authorities say the chase started after deputies responded to an auto burglary call in Southeast Shelby County.
Pursuit Begins in Shelby County
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the Tapestry Forest Creek Apartments on Hammer Mill Cove around 12:34 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2025. Deputies say they found the suspect inside a vehicle but when they attempted to make an arrest, he accelerated toward them and fled the scene.
The pursuit continued south into DeSoto County, Mississippi, where deputies joined the chase. Officials reported that spike strips were deployed to stop the suspect’s vehicle, allowing authorities to take him into custody without further incident.
Suspect Identified and Charges Filed
The suspect was identified as Jarius Henderson, 21, of Olive Branch, Mississippi. He now faces charges in Mississippi including felony theft of property and felony evading arrest. Meanwhile, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has issued warrants for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and evading arrest.
Court records reveal Henderson has a criminal history in Shelby County, including guilty pleas in May 2025 for theft of firearms, property theft, and aggravated burglary. At that time, he was sentenced to supervised probation.
Law Enforcement Response
Sheriff Floyd Bonner, Jr. expressed gratitude to the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance and coordination during the pursuit. Officials confirmed that Henderson’s extradition back to Shelby County is pending.
The arrest underscores ongoing cooperation between Tennessee and Mississippi law enforcement agencies when suspects cross jurisdictional lines during crimes.
As Henderson awaits legal proceedings in both states, residents are reminded of the serious risks tied to high-speed pursuits and the dangers they pose to both officers and the public. For continuing updates on local crime and safety alerts, follow ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
