Texas Man Arrested After Stabbing Ex-Girlfriend’s New Boyfriend During Violent Confrontation Outside Her Home

LAREDO, TEXAS – A 20-year-old man is facing aggravated assault charges after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend during a violent confrontation outside her home in the early morning hours, authorities said.

Confrontation Turns Violent

According to the Laredo Police Department, officers were called to the 100 block of St. Pierre Lane around 1:48 a.m. Friday after reports of a stabbing involving a domestic dispute.

Investigators say Christian Alejandro Fonseca showed up uninvited at his ex-girlfriend’s residence and began jumping on the hood of her current boyfriend’s car. The loud commotion woke the occupants inside, prompting the woman’s new boyfriend to step outside to confront him.

Police said the argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation, and Fonseca allegedly tried to force his way inside the home to reach his ex-girlfriend.

“The two men began scuffling, and Fonseca allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the victim,” police said in a statement.

Victim Recovering; Suspect Previously Warned

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover, according to local NBC and ABC affiliate KGNS-TV.

Police located Fonseca a few houses away from the scene shortly after the attack. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Court records reviewed by the Laredo Morning Times revealed that Fonseca had been previously issued a criminal trespass warning following harassment complaints involving the same woman. He had also been arrested in August for resisting arrest and criminal trespass, and later released on bond.

It is unclear if those prior incidents were related to the same ex-girlfriend.

Facing Aggravated Assault Charge

Following Friday’s incident, Fonseca was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He remained held without bond at the Webb County Jail as of Sunday.

Police have not released the names of the victim or the ex-girlfriend involved in the case.
