Three Arrested After String of Gunfire Incidents Leaves Beloit, Wisconsin on Edge Over Three Days

BELOIT, WISCONSIN — Police in Beloit arrested three suspects in connection with separate gunfire incidents that unfolded over the course of three days, underscoring the department’s growing concern about recurring violence in the community.

According to the Beloit Police Department, no one was injured in any of the shootings, but authorities emphasized that each call involving gunfire is treated with the utmost seriousness.

Three Shootings, Three Arrests

The first shooting happened on Thursday, November 6, around 3:45 p.m., when officers were called to the 200 block of Middle Avenue for a reported disturbance. Investigators say a physical altercation escalated when a man fired a gun at an occupied vehicle.

The suspect, 19-year-old Curtez McAlister, was later identified and turned himself in to authorities on November 11.

Just hours later, police responded to another shots-fired report near St. Lawrence Avenue and Oak Street. Officers discovered a vehicle that had been hit by gunfire, along with other physical evidence from the scene.

That investigation led to the arrest of 17-year-old Chevias Blair Jr., who was taken into custody the following day.

Then, on Saturday, November 8, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Moore Street after reports of another shooting. Investigators determined that one man fired at another during a confrontation.

Police quickly obtained a warrant for 25-year-old Mathew Larson, who was found inside a vehicle and arrested without incident on November 10.

Police Praise Quick Response and Investigative Work

In a public statement, the Beloit Police Department commended its patrol and Violent Crimes Interdiction Team (VCIT) for their rapid identification and arrests in all three cases.

“We want to recognize the hard work, dedication, and rapid response of our patrol and VCIT officers in identifying and apprehending suspects in all three of these cases within days,” the department said. “Their efforts reflect our ongoing commitment to reducing violence and protecting every member of our community.”

‘This Behavior Is Unacceptable’

While none of the incidents resulted in injuries, police made clear that gun violence of any kind will be aggressively pursued.

“This behavior is unacceptable,” the department added. “We will continue to pursue these investigations diligently to hold offenders accountable and keep Beloit safe.”

The three suspects are facing a range of firearm-related charges. Investigations into all incidents remain active as police work to determine whether any of the cases are connected.
