Three Killed, One Seriously Injured After SUV Flips in High-Speed Crash on Madison’s Southwest Side
MADISON, WISCONSIN — A violent rollover crash on Madison’s southwest side left three people dead and another seriously injured early Saturday morning, according to the Madison Police Department.
The deadly crash occurred near Cross Country Road between Nesbitt Road and Stonebridge Drive, prompting police to close the area for several hours while investigators processed the scene.
Speed Believed To Be a Factor
Authorities said the SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed before it flipped, ejecting all four occupants from the vehicle. Three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while the fourth was rushed to a local hospital with significant injuries.
Police have not yet confirmed the cause of the crash but stated that speed likely played a major role. The investigation remains ongoing, and toxicology results are pending as part of standard procedure.
Road Closed During Investigation
Following the crash, Cross Country Road from Maple Grove Drive to Stonebridge Drive was closed to traffic as emergency responders and investigators worked the scene.
Authorities said they will release the identities of the victims once families have been notified.
