Two Killed and Several Injured After Gunman Opens Fire Outside Grand Sierra Resort Casino in Reno

RENO, NEVADA — A deadly shooting outside the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino early Monday morning left two people dead and several others injured, prompting a large multi-agency response as police confronted and exchanged gunfire with the suspected shooter. The incident unfolded around 7:25 a.m., turning one of Reno’s busiest resort areas into an active crime scene.

Gunfire Erupts Outside Casino, Leaving Multiple Victims

According to police, officers were dispatched to the resort after receiving reports of an active shooter in the parking and entry area. When officers arrived, they found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency crews treated several people at the scene before transporting them to area hospitals.
Their conditions have not yet been released.

Authorities confirmed that two victims were pronounced dead shortly after the attack.

Witnesses reported chaos as guests and employees scrambled for safety while officers rushed into the area.

Suspect Engages Police and Is Injured in Shootout

Investigators say the gunman was confronted by officers within two and a half minutes of the initial emergency call. A brief exchange of gunfire occurred, striking the suspect.
The shooter, whose identity has not yet been released, received medical treatment and remains hospitalized. His condition has not been disclosed.

Police have not released details about a possible motive, and it remains unclear whether the suspect had any connection to the victims or the casino.

Major Police Presence Assisting With Ongoing Investigation

The Reno Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from multiple agencies, including the Sparks Police Department and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from around the resort and interviewing witnesses to determine the full timeline of events.

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve said authorities are still sorting through early information and working to determine whether the violence occurred in more than one location.
