Two Men Killed in Midday Shooting Near Lexington’s Valley Park, Police Investigating

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY — Two men were shot and killed late Monday morning in what police are calling a midday double homicide near Valley Park, according to the Lexington Police Department.

The shooting occurred around 10:50 a.m. in the area of Village Drive and Cambridge Drive, where officers responded to reports of gunfire and found two men suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, which will release their names once families have been notified.

Police Continue Search for Suspect After Daytime Shooting

Authorities have not released any details about a possible suspect or motive behind the deadly incident. Detectives with the Personal Crimes Unit are leading the investigation and working to determine what led up to the shooting.

“This is a very active investigation, and we’re encouraging anyone with information to contact detectives immediately,” said a Lexington Police spokesperson.

Witnesses in the area described hearing multiple shots before seeing police flood the neighborhood near Village Drive, a quiet residential section close to Valley Park.

Rising Homicide Numbers in Lexington

According to police data, this marks Lexington’s 18th and 19th homicides of 2025 — and the city’s first homicide case in nearly a month. The last recorded fatal shooting occurred on September 30, when a 19-year-old man was killed at a home near downtown.

By comparison, police reported 17 homicides at this same time last year, underscoring growing concerns over rising gun violence in the city.
