Two Suspects Taken Into Custody After Late-Night Shooting Scare in Downtown Chippewa Falls
CHIPPEWA FALLS, WISCONSIN — Two people were taken into custody following reports of gunfire in downtown Chippewa Falls late Monday night, according to the Chippewa Falls Police Department.
Officers responded around 11:13 p.m. after receiving several 911 calls about possible shots fired in the city’s downtown business district. When they arrived, police found two individuals walking nearby, one of whom fled the scene on foot, prompting a K9 search that was unsuccessful.
Police Discover Property Damage, Interview Witnesses
Investigators said officers later discovered property damage consistent with gunfire in the area. Several witnesses were interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
By Tuesday morning, police confirmed that two arrests had been made, though the suspects’ names have not been released pending formal charges. Authorities described the shooting as an isolated incident and said there is no continued threat to the public.
