Two Teens Shot, Another Teen Charged After Hopkinsville Apartment Shooting
HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. — Police are investigating a late-night shooting that left two teenagers injured in Hopkinsville and resulted in a third teen facing charges.
Shooting at James Village Apartments
The Hopkinsville Police Department said officers responded to the James Village Apartments around 11:30 p.m. Monday, September 15, after reports of gunfire.
Authorities confirmed that two 16-year-old boys were shot during the incident — one in the leg and the other in the shoulder. Both were treated at Jennie Stuart Health for their injuries.
Teen Suspect Charged
After interviewing witnesses and reviewing video evidence, police identified another 16-year-old boy as the suspected shooter. He has been charged with:
- Second-degree assault
- Possession of a handgun by a minor
On Thursday, September 18, police confirmed the teen was being held at the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Facility.
Investigation Still Active
Despite the arrest, investigators emphasized the case is still active.
“Although an arrest has been made, this remains an open investigation,” the Hopkinsville Police Department wrote on Facebook. “The potential for additional arrests and/or additional charges for those involved remains a possibility.”
Authorities have not yet released details on what led to the shooting.
