Urbana Shooting Leaves 24-Year-Old Man Hospitalized; Police Search for 2 Suspects

URBANA, Ill. — A 24-year-old man is in serious condition after being shot multiple times Monday afternoon in Urbana. Police say two suspects are at large following the attack, which unfolded shortly after noon on the city’s east side.

Details of the Shooting

According to the Urbana Police Department, officers responded around 12:35 p.m. to the 1300 block of Dublin Street after reports of gunfire. The victim was found inside a nearby home after being shot outside and running for safety. Authorities confirmed no one else inside the residence was harmed.

The man was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in serious condition. His identity has not been released at this time.

Law Enforcement Response

The investigation quickly expanded, with officers from the University of Illinois Police Department, the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, and the Illinois State Police assisting Urbana officers at the scene.

Surveillance footage captured two unidentified men running south along Romine Street immediately after the shooting. As of Monday evening, police had not announced any arrests.
