WAUKESHA, Wisconsin — A large police presence flooded downtown Waukesha Thursday night after multiple reports of shots fired near Main and Wisconsin Avenue, according to the Waukesha Police Department.

Shots Fired, Area Evacuated

The City of Waukesha Dispatch Center began receiving calls around 7:58 p.m. reporting gunfire. Police and fire crews immediately rushed to the scene, quickly evacuating nearby residents and businesses as a precaution.

Authorities confirmed that no victims or injuries were found during the search of the downtown area.

Suspect Taken Into Custody

Police confirmed that a suspect was apprehended at the scene and later transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for treatment. Officials said the individual was conscious and alert while in custody.
