Weather Alert: Storms Expected in Southern Indiana and Central Kentucky Tonight, Travel Delays Likely

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Commuters in Southern Indiana and Central Kentucky should prepare for hazardous travel late Wednesday into Thursday as storms roll through the region.

Overnight Storms and Morning Commute Hazards

The National Weather Service in Louisville reports that a cold front will sweep across the area, sparking scattered showers and thunderstorms overnight. While severe storms are not expected, downpours may cause slick roads, reduced visibility, and ponding of water, especially along I-64, I-65, and U.S. 31.

Motorists are urged to allow extra travel time Thursday morning, use caution near standing water, and stay alert for lightning during the early hours.

Cooler Air to Follow

Storms will taper off by Thursday evening as skies begin to clear. Highs are forecast to reach the low 70s in Louisville before a refreshing drop overnight into the upper 50s.

By Friday, conditions turn sunnier and warmer with highs climbing into the mid-80s, setting up ideal weather for high school football and outdoor activities across Jefferson and Oldham counties.

Weekend Outlook: Fall-Like Air Returns

Another cold front moves through Friday night, bringing a chance of renewed showers into early Saturday. However, most of the weekend is expected to stay dry.

Saturday highs will settle near 72°F, with overnight lows dipping into the 50s by Sunday morning. Sunday and Monday look mild and sunny, with daytime highs ranging from the lower to upper 70s.

Southern Indiana and Central Kentucky residents can expect a wet and slow commute Thursday morning, but relief is on the way with a comfortable, fall-like weekend ahead. For more weather updates and alerts, follow ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
