Wisconsin Dells Man Charged in Fourth of July Homicide Bound Over for Trial
BARABOO, Wis. — The case against a 23-year-old Wisconsin Dells man accused of killing his roommate on July 4 will proceed to trial after a Sauk County court found probable cause to move the case forward.
Fourth of July Killing in Lake Delton
Investigators allege Brandon Bent shot and killed his female roommate inside a Lake Delton home on Independence Day. Authorities reported the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her face, neck, back, abdomen, and shoulders.
Bent was arrested shortly after the shooting and charged with first-degree intentional homicide.
Court Proceedings
On Thursday, Bent waived his right to a preliminary hearing. The court accepted the waiver and ruled that the case will proceed to trial.
In addition to the homicide charge, Bent also faces counts of bail jumping and operating a firearm while intoxicated.
Next Court Date
Bent is scheduled to return to court on October 30, when he will formally enter a plea to the charges. If convicted of first-degree intentional homicide, he faces a potential life sentence in prison.
