Wisconsin Man Arrested for Repeated Child Sexual Abuse Across Two Towns, Police Say
ROCK COUNTY, WISCONSIN — A 22-year-old Wisconsin man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of child sexual assault and abduction after a multi-agency investigation revealed repeated offenses across two southern Wisconsin towns, authorities said Thursday.
According to the Janesville Police Department, officers were called to a home in the 1500 block of Woodman Drive on October 7 after a parent reported that their child had left with an adult man without permission.
Police later identified the suspect as Daniel Munoz, who was found with the child later that day in Walworth County, roughly 30 miles from where the alleged abduction took place.
Investigation Uncovers Crimes in Two Communities
Detectives with the Janesville Police Department said their investigation revealed that Munoz had ongoing illegal contact with the same child over several months in both Janesville and Milton.
Evidence gathered during the investigation led to multiple criminal charges from police departments in both towns.
“This was a coordinated investigation between multiple law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of the child and bring justice for the family,” authorities said in a joint statement.
List of Charges Filed
Janesville Police charged Daniel Munoz with:
- Second-degree sexual assault of a child
- Abduction of another’s child
- Two counts of possession of child sexual abuse material
Meanwhile, Milton Police filed additional charges against Munoz for:
- Repeated acts of sexual assault of the same child
- Child enticement
- Battery
- Disorderly conduct
- Strangulation
Joint Effort Among Multiple Agencies
The arrest was made with assistance from the Janesville Police Department, Milton Police Department, and the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could follow as forensic evidence and digital materials are reviewed.
