Wisconsin Man Charged After Using Toy Gun to Carjack Nuns Leaving Mass in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI — A Wisconsin man is facing serious charges after allegedly carjacking two nuns with a toy gun in St. Louis last month, according to police.
The suspect, identified as Jordan T. Grundy, 25, was already in custody for leading officers on a high-speed chase in a stolen car. Now, he has been formally charged with first-degree robbery in connection with the August 17 incident.
Carjacking After Mass
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said the crime happened in the 4300 block of Lindell Boulevard in the Central West End neighborhood. Two nuns had just left mass when Grundy confronted them with what appeared to be a firearm and stole their 2016 Ford.
Surveillance footage captured the carjacking. Police later found a toy gun inside the stolen vehicle that matched the victims’ description of the weapon.
Police Pursuit and Arrest
Officers located the car near Jefferson Avenue and Locust Street, sparking a 10-minute pursuit through city streets.
Police said Grundy ran multiple red lights, drove into oncoming traffic, and eventually crashed the vehicle into a tree. A passenger was also in the car. Both attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended.
Authorities recovered a green hat and sunglasses linked to the crime, along with Grundy’s shoes and shorts seen in surveillance video. Cell phone data also placed him at the scene.
Charges and Detention
In addition to first-degree robbery, Grundy was already facing charges of aggravated fleeing, leaving the scene of an accident with physical injury, and resisting arrest.
He is currently being held without bond at the St. Louis jail and is scheduled for a preliminary court hearing on September 17, according to FOX 2 St. Louis.
The case has drawn widespread attention due to the unusual circumstances and the involvement of religious victims. For more crime and community safety news, follow ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
