Wisconsin Mother Found Dead on Twin Span After NBA YoungBoy Concert — Homicide Investigation Underway

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA — A Wisconsin mother who traveled to Louisiana for an NBA YoungBoy concert was found dead on the Twin Span bridge in what authorities are calling a hit-and-run homicide that remains a mystery.
27-year-old Edashia Caraway died early Tuesday morning from blunt force trauma after being struck by at least two vehicles, according to St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Christopher Tape.
Found Dead Hours Before Her Birthday
Authorities said Caraway’s body was discovered around 2:30 a.m. on October 21 along the Twin Span bridge — a stretch of Interstate 10 that connects Slidell to New Orleans.
Caraway had reportedly traveled alone from Wisconsin after a Chicago concert by rapper NBA YoungBoy was canceled. Her family said they had paid for her trip to attend the rescheduled performance in New Orleans, which was meant to be part of her birthday celebration.
“The last post she made was about going to the concert and her birthday coming up — she was so happy,” said her sister, September Caraway.
Family Learns of Death Through Her Phone Alert
Caraway’s mother reportedly grew worried when she received an alert from her daughter’s phone, prompting her to call hospitals across the city — but none had admitted her.
“She was looking around trying to find her daughter at different hospitals, and none of them had her daughter,” Dr. Tape told WVUE-Fox 8.
Louisiana State Police later confirmed they found the 27-year-old’s body and began investigating the crash site as a crime scene.
Police: Two Cars Hit the Victim
Preliminary findings indicate that two vehicles struck Caraway, though only one driver stopped and cooperated with investigators. That motorist provided a toxicology sample as part of standard procedure, authorities said.
State troopers also searched Caraway’s hotel room at the Hilton Riverside in New Orleans, collecting potential evidence that could help explain how she ended up miles away in St. Tammany Parish.
Dr. Tape confirmed that DNA and toxicology samples were taken from Caraway’s body, though final results could take several months.
A Shy, Hardworking Mother Remembered
Caraway’s sister described her as a quiet, hardworking mother who loved to travel but was cautious around strangers.
“I just can’t see her meeting random people and going with them,” said September. “She loved her five-year-old son, and she was just a good person.”
The coroner called the case a “mystery” and urged anyone with information to come forward.
“We have a young, dead person, and we’re trying to figure out what happened,” Dr. Tape said. “If anyone interacted with her that night, we need them to reach out.”
Anyone with information about Edashia Caraway’s movements before her death is urged to contact Louisiana State Police Troop L or the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.
